An Obituary printed in the London Times – Interesting and sadly rather true. 12 February, 2009

Filed under: Musings, Random, Uncategorized — Maggie @ 12:28 am

Today we mourn the passing of a beloved old friend, Common Sense, who has been with us for many years. No one knows for sure how old he was, since his birth records were long ago lost in bureaucratic red tape. He will be remembered as having cultivated such valuable lessons as:
- Knowing when to come in out of the rain;
- Why the early bird gets the worm;
- Life isn’t always fair;
- and maybe it was my fault.

Common Sense lived by simple, sound financial policies (don’t spend more than you can earn) and reliable strategies (adults, not children, are in charge). His health began to deteriorate rapidly when well-intentioned but overbearing regulations were set in place, Reports of a 6-year-old boy charged with sexual harassment for kissing a classmate; teens suspended from school for using mouthwash after lunch; and a teacher fired for reprimanding an unruly student, only worsened his condition.

Common Sense lost ground when parents attacked teachers for doing the job that they themselves had failed to do in disciplining their unruly children.

It declined even further when schools were required to get parental consent to administer sun lotion or an aspirin to a student; but could not inform parents when a student became pregnant and wanted to have an abortion.

Common Sense lost the will to live as the churches became businesses; and criminals received better treatment than their victims.

Common Sense took a beating when you couldn’t defend yourself from a burglar in your own home and the burglar could sue you for assault.

Common Sense finally gave up the will to live, after a woman failed to realize that a steaming cup of coffee was hot She spilled a little in her lap, and was promptly awarded a huge settlement.

Common Sense was preceded in death, by his parents, Truth and Trust, by his wife, Discretion, by his daughter, Responsibility, and by his son, Reason.

He is survived by his 4 stepbrothers;
I Know My Rights
I Want It Now
Someone Else Is To Blame
I’m A Victim

Not many attended his funeral because so few realized he was gone. If you still remember him, pass this on. If not, join the majority and do nothing.

“Why do people add you…. and then never talk to you…!?” – Me.

Yeah that quote isn’t exactly “moving” or like “insightful” but it’s something that I probably will never find out.. oh well. Anyways….

Forever21.com – damn that site is like sooo cheap but postage is sooo expensive! Pretty much probably have to buy like 25 items just to make shipping worth it! We’ll see when I have money again…. whenever that is >_>

But yes, there are some dresses and tops that I would love to add to my collection of clothing in which most of them I don’t wear.. I need to throw out sell the clothes I don’t wear but (some.) that I love and can’t bear to part with.. T_T

One of my previous entries, I mentioned stuff that I wouldn’t mind getting and in which I would get myself if I didn’t get it hahaha.. well. My wishlist is complete haha.. air tickets to HK are nearly sorted and booked :) [although I have to fly back bout like two days earlier than my family coz of work... like 4 hours/2 days! Oh well.. least I didn't have to like miss out weeks of stuff! =) And this is just two days.. or really one because of the time differences..], remembered this notebook that I had that I said I was going to use to document my time in HK/China aaand yeah got my writing utensiliesthanks to Mish! Lol XD (yeah, I’m weird, lol), but hey, saves me like $20 on getting it :P

During this holiday….  I am kind of hoping to learn how to make WP layouts (since I have like millions of time on my hands anyway!) and well…. it could happen… it may not. I’m not sure… depends on my motivation levels and if I do so, then will have to get hosting which I might like just use 100webspace ooor 110mb… we’ll see.

Oooh and yes, yesterday I went shopping with my sister for boots on my mum’s request (I didn’t click on the reason till like much later during the shopping trip.. =_=) coz of the many walking we will be doing while in HK/China and yeah, they’re great! I wanna get these other pairs too! I still like my Westfield vouchers from my birthday… thanks again sooo much for them!! Was saving them for the New Year’s and/or Boxing Day sales lol… (don’t look at me like that! I’ll be able to get more stuff at that time! Yeah, that’s possible~!) But, yes, the boots which I quite love and it was only $30! :D

)

I also wanna get a hairdryer and umm… handbag(s) from Farmers! They’re like $40 each! D:

One day…. I will be in credit again.. =)

What.. 24 September, 2008

Ummm.. Okay ? O_o

So other than this lovely surprise.. I have just been busy with uni and work.. attending classes and all and (actually) working on assignments and studying.. :O (I know, shocking) It might actually turn out to be a good and worthwhile semester after all~ I hope so though. I do pay like literally thousands to be there and such..

So yeah nothing that I particularly want to go into depths about.. which nothing really of this week is quite kodak-momenty that I wouldn’t want to forget… just uni and work… and well, it’s pay week, so that’s cool.. :)

I’m quite boring atm and am actually doing work. Sigh. What has the world come to? Heh.. But something that is kind of somewhat exciting that is coming up is my possibly three upcoming back-to-back weekends of doing at least one thing. ^_^ So after my week of actual work I can go out… and not spend money. I am adament in getting my overdraft down before the end of semester and actually having some money in there when I finish uni for this year~ ^.^

How Ironic 20 September, 2008

Filed under: Life, Musings, Random — Maggie @ 12:23 am

Isn’t it ironic that when you’re looking for something, you don’t find it?

And when you’re not looking for it, it’s like right THERE!

Also when you want to forget about something, EVERYTHING reminds you of that one thing?

How about when you are thinking of that one word that is on the tip of your tongue but you just can’t. seem. get!

Life is weird. Life is ironic. It sometimes suck. And then again it could be the best damn thing..

All I can say that it is very ironic.

Random Thought…. 14 August, 2008

Filed under: Laptop, Musings, Random — Maggie @ 2:36 pm

at 2.25 am waiting for my hair to dry… and listening to I’m Your Angel by R Kelly and Celine Dion.. yes. It is indeed a very old song but it’s pretty great…. yeah, I did not just say that.

But anyways… I don’t mind helping people friends. If they ask, I help, if I can and not too busy… which is usually the latter. However, I don’t ask for help unitl I absoultely need it… that could explain why I am so lazy in fixing personal problems that arise.

Examples…. #1: My ‘wall’ on facebook…. took me a good couple of days till I got off my ass and went in search of why people couldn’t see it.. and blaming it on my ridiculous amount of facebook applications.. and #2: My laptop when it wasn’t starting up properly… and it took me another good couple of weeks possibly till I couldn’t take it anymore and called the Dell people and then that week got a new hard drive! :) But…. atm, I have a random piece of hard drive that has lots of my downloaded music and videos on it and photos and pictures too that is just sitting there… have to send it back to them soon… *sigh* Point: I’m lazy when it comes to asking for help. And won’t ask for it till it’s absolutely necessary. Maybe it’s not such a good thing… I’ll work on it..

Not sure if I mentioned it, but good news, have finally purchased an external hard drive (bargain price of $152 including postage for a 500GB external hard drive on Trademe! ^.^). I actually haven’t bought anything from there in a while….. actually don’t even remember my last Trademe purchase! And, also quite happy coz got about $40 left in account after like my rent, expenses and that external hard disk purchase… ^_^

This totally sucks… was actually planning to go home.. umm.. hmm… well, I guess that’s what mothers are for! :P

So, other than the shitty weather, I just got up and had a shower! Lol.. I need to work on normalizing sleeping patterns! T_T But, after all it is the holidays :)

Once semester starts again the week after next, I probably still won’t go to bed early… well earlier maybe but yeah.. heh.

That is all I have to post. The shit weather. When I decide I want to go home.. or actually I need to go home coz I’m going over to my friend’s in West aucks and yeah…

Just realized… you cant’ actually SEE the rain but it’s raining and its wet. *sigh* Auckland Winter Weather, for you~
