Birthday, External Hard Drive and Other Stuff 18 September, 2008

So. I have managed to once again damage (most definitely beyond repair) my second external hard drive!

And what have I learned… don’t put it near the edge of the bed or on top of tvs or anywhere where it may fall off and onto the ground! =_=

I never learn, do I!? T_T

I am not as concerned and distraught as the first time because I was smart and zipped all my photos that I had on the external hard drive and saved it onto my computer’s hard drive… and I’m not really too concerned what like documents I have lost becuase all that matters is my photos… that are like irreplaceable and I will never be able to like take again… etc. But I do wonder what I have lost other than nearly 5 GB of music and about like a season or two of tv programmes that I have spent endless amounts of time dedicated to their sometimes slow download times.. but oh well. *sigh*  I guess this gives me like a reason to tidy up my music collection… been meaning to do that~

I’m also not very concerned by what methods (i.e. money) that I am going to be getting another one… first one I paid for (with my OD – overdraft.. ) and the second one my mum paid for…  I have an inkling that she probably won’t be paying for this third one… maybe half….? But yeahh… not quite sure how I am going to go about this…. hmmm.

Soo. Onto other stuff. I am sick. Third or fourth day into it. It began with an awful itchy and sore throat and then escalated into a sniffling and.. I won’t go into the details but yes, a sniffling nose and dreadful and quite painful cough and now just sniffling nose and occasional coughing…  was coughing like there was no tomorrow yesterday! Jeez!! T_T And it was my birthday as well! T_T

And yes, yesterday was my actual birthday and I actually went and hung out with friends from my Chinese class despite the fact that I was sick and probably shouldn’t have been out… but hey, colds are the result from being inside too much…. as I read. Somewhere.. but yeah.. I kind somewhat have been inside the past few days… but yeah, that’s another story~

On my actual birthday I had lunch with Nikki and Robin at Momo tea ^^ it was nice… but didn’t finish it.. =\ Good value for $10 though! Then we went and got sticker photos~! (Soo typically asian, haha – well then again, we are studying chinese and like 2/3 of us are asian haha, soo it’s all good ) After that we walked around trying to find a karaoke place coz the place that we were going to go to wasn’t open.. found another near downtown and it was pretty good ~ $30 for 1 hour..

It was a great day! Despite again that I was sick and coughing like craaazy! That wasn’t fun. The karaoke place was pretty awesome too.. there was like disco lights haha.. The place is pretty decent as well! Pretty recent song choices… I sung a few songs that I usually sing like A Whole New World (awesome song! Pretty much know all the lyrics~ haha xD) and some other stuff… sung Angel by Shaggy (I surprised myself by actually by being able to sing it hahaha) and The Great Escape. Another really awesome song! I like it. Yeah it was a good day ^^

Oh. Damn… this compiling and re-creating of my music library again… urgh! >_< I haaate it! I think I need some help haha.. I’m going to enlist help in getting my friends to send me music via MSN hahaha. Oh, the offer is extended here too… if you feel like helping the cause of making Maggie’s iTunes fat and healthy again… you know where to find me! All donations greatly appreciated! ^_^

And, that is all for now~ hope everyone is doing fine and for those on holiday, enjoy it while it lasts… while I spend the last of mine sick and having not much energy to do much other than lurk on the net…. *sigh* Also gotta get my icommunicate powerpoint done…. External Hard Disk! :D 20 August, 2008

I got my external hard disk today!! ^.^ It’s awesome. Already moved some stuff over there like my music and pictures

Tomorrow, a classmate is going to try and move all my stuff on my old hard disk (that I have to send back tomorrow afternoon >_<) onto the new one, hopefully it all works!

Lately, have just been busy working and doing uni or stuff or lack thereof and just procrastinating and wasting time online.. >.< Damnit.

And this week have like almost gone out every night… other than Monday night… last night went to Rakino’s and a had a few drinks (Cosmos are the best!! <3) with Beth and a few of her mates and had an like awesome as D&M (or maybe rant…. it was mutual… lol… it was great… pretty similar situation and feelings.) with one of her friends while they were away getting food and yeah…. semi-drunkness and deep convos are the greatest. Haha. Then tonight went home and went out to dinner with family at a restaurant on Dominon Road, it was great. Yum. And yeah well… a few other stuff coming up like dinner with some friends and town on Friday. So, those should be great. ^_^

Random Thought…. 14 August, 2008

at 2.25 am waiting for my hair to dry… and listening to I’m Your Angel by R Kelly and Celine Dion.. yes. It is indeed a very old song but it’s pretty great…. yeah, I did not just say that.

But anyways… I don’t mind helping people friends. If they ask, I help, if I can and not too busy… which is usually the latter. However, I don’t ask for help unitl I absoultely need it… that could explain why I am so lazy in fixing personal problems that arise.

Examples…. #1: My ‘wall’ on facebook…. took me a good couple of days till I got off my ass and went in search of why people couldn’t see it.. and blaming it on my ridiculous amount of facebook applications.. and #2: My laptop when it wasn’t starting up properly… and it took me another good couple of weeks possibly till I couldn’t take it anymore and called the Dell people and then that week got a new hard drive! But…. atm, I have a random piece of hard drive that has lots of my downloaded music and videos on it and photos and pictures too that is just sitting there… have to send it back to them soon… *sigh* Point: I’m lazy when it comes to asking for help. And won’t ask for it till it’s absolutely necessary. Maybe it’s not such a good thing… I’ll work on it..

Not sure if I mentioned it, but good news, have finally purchased an external hard drive (bargain price of $152 including postage for a 500GB external hard drive on Trademe! ^.^). I actually haven’t bought anything from there in a while….. actually don’t even remember my last Trademe purchase! And, also quite happy coz got about $40 left in account after like my rent, expenses and that external hard disk purchase… ^_^

I am really happy atm! Why…. Because I got paid by not only Studylink (Student Allowance) but IRD too!! I got paid my….. measly (but oh-so-helpful and beneficial) $62.62.. not much but very helpful and contributory towards my purchase (like REAL badly) of an external hard drive.

And I thought that since I was going to be purchasing one anyway coz I got a new hard disk installed and my old one like taken out… sooo I have like a random piece of computer equipment in my possession with like my (nearly, I think 4GB worth of) music, photos, videos and, yeah that’s about it on there… that I need to like back up/transfer onto an external piece of like hardware… (external hard drive) and I only had 7 days to do it… But becuase of my financial situation had to wait to be paid by Studylink to like purchase it and well, last week on Trademe it was $137 for a 500GB external hard drive… but now it’s like gone up to $144… +$8 P&P -_- oh well.. didn’t go up by that much and so it’s still all good

Soo yeah… I am in a really happy mood atm and I should probably also like study but… hmmm… doubt it… probably only like, what, 10 minutes? LOL.. >.<

Aaand… yeah, I am really happy coz after paying for rent and expenses… I have money left over…. and can actually like buy stuff… not that I wouldn’t have been able to before if I didn’t get the like (extra) IRD tax return money but yeah…. I am able to kind of in a way survive/buy comfortably. LOL. xD

So. Well. You don’t need to know the details or the like screencap of the spreadsheet to prove that I am going to be quite rich next week… after all the “expenses” I have to pay (including the expenses of the apartment) I will have like $60 left! ^_^ Yayy! Hmmm I wasn’t actually planning to go out next week lol, was actually even thinking of heading home to my Mum’s but I’m thinking we shall see… I think I need a break from the city. And the apartment. Kind of also even feel like going to West City.. oh, hm…. might actually even have to spend that $60 to GET THE data from my old hard disk transferred to a new external hard drive… -__-!! *sigh* Oh well, hopefully it’s not too much~

And, I went out last and didn’t spend like a single cent! Yes. I didn’t. Went to the foam party at AUT and wow, that was fun! ^.^ And an experience! Tehe. Afterwards, had to like go home and have another shower (lol) and restraighten and blow dry my hair.. but it was worth it. Lol. Probably not going to have another opportunity to do that again~

Last night went to Globe and Lounge and…. there wasn’t like much people out on the streets or in the clubs…. I said that people were at home watching the Olympics LOL.. Maybe, though….. haha. Shrug. Anyways.

Half of the weekend is gone and alas no study…. nothing new.

Third Week Back 4 August, 2008

Aaand… it’s going alright. Definitely on toof my work in iCommunicate. Kind of easy when umm.. you’re not like learning a language? When it’s not continued? =_=

Anywho. It’s great. I love my classes. I love the people in it. I am definitely also more social than last semester… I know people from my last semester classes and well.. I guess you could say it’s hard not to communicate and socialize with the people. I kind of want to be like this more often. And also I guess you could say am becoming more closer to people that I know from my Chinese class last semester. Which is awesome. I love it.  This is definitely been a good year in terms of friendships, not like last year was horrendous in friendships but I am more social than I was last year. So it’s been good in like a different aspect. =) 

Which is good! Sooo… umm…  I also have a job!! That I scored like about two weeks ago from SJS (Student Job Search for uni students ^.^) and it’s going alright eh.. this month I’m working three days a week as opposed to two days and yeah… it’s good. I like it. I was a little like tired of the job but.. it was only for like a split second and yeah. I like it. It’s a good job and I like the person I sometimes work with.. heh. It’s good. Love<3

My laptop. Is still a bit like scarce in programs, music and umm… videos. But kind of watched almost all of The Hills episodes that I have downloaded anyways so all good and just waiting for C4 to like catch up. It’s a good show…. in my opinion. Soo dramatic haha.. makes me forget about mine which isn’t so dramatic although the love front is always almost like something happening… but… well, not at the very moment~

Oooh I also can’t like wait to get an external hard drive!! ^.^ I’m not very like up with the technicalities and speicifics of what’s good or not and so I’m just like kind of aiming to get a 500GB external hard drive for about like $137 off Trademe. Love that site. Bargains! Especially in terms of DVD’s. Omg.. I can’t wait to get paid… hmmm may go shopping for like dresses or like buy the two that I want from Glassons.. but going to go shopping… aww… can’t wait.. but kind of also want my overdraft to go down.. it’s… okay it’s bad. It’s like in the 900’s! TT_TT Really do hope that I get like the Santamagic job at the end of the year eh… which is like really soon~ hmmm.. oh well. Hopefully like spend less and get it down… arghh gonna like takes aaages! It took me like about 3-4 months and two jobs to pay it off and then I think within like about 2-3 months, it increased again… probably really didn’t help that I like moved out but… well, I don’t think I could resist in some umm… purchases… actually it has mostly been food and like apartment-related.. soo eyah… like “unexpected” bills. That’s when it went downhill.

Well. Overall I think my life is pretty good atm… just gotta like study more… I am sure I most probably like didn’t get a good mark for that Written Chinese test/5% “quiz” that occurred today… I studied like the night before (at like 2am… what!? lol.) but yeah… arghhh… it kind of came in handy but not really.. hmm… Oh. Yeah… 2 am study… seems that I like study best at that time.. probably only study at that time/before I go to bed is because I feel guilty and feel unproductive that I make myself do some study and learn something buuut well it works but I don’t like remember some characters. *sigh* More studyy.. hate it. I hate starting. It’s sooo hard!

Edit// I am also at times feeling the need and like wanting to actually move away from wordpress.com and be able to like create my own layouts.. have a few ideas too… I need to be creative.. have that little creativity.. sometimes I’m creative in photos I take.. but it’s like rare and only some look creative and photography-y. Anyways.. just a random thought that I thought that I would share…

It has been ages since I last updated and a lot has happened as well…. like that I randomly went out last Thursday night with a friend from my Chinese Class aaaand, well, let’s just say I did not expect that to happen! Twice even… =_= Lol…

But anyways. I have now officially gotten a new harddisk for my laptop coz there was something wrong with the old one aaand… I have pretty much nothing. No photos, music or videos! So I am pretty much music-less. Yes. That is the one that I really care about! I had like sooo much music… I guess this teaches me to like back up my stuff… well I’m thinking of getting like an external hard drive to like get my stuff like transferred over from my old hard drive/disk anyways coz I don’t think there is any other way…? I’m not a computer expert and sooo… yeah. >.<

Last week I also went down to Hamilton to like sell the rest of my (two) textbooks from last year! And I only got one of the sold! For $25 as well! That doesn’t even like BEGIN to cover actually going down there! Speaking of which, I owe one of my friends, SC $30.. (yeah, just a side note.. have decided to use initals or whatever you call them to refer to friend’s names so it won’t be as easy to identify me?? I dunno. I know I once started like using first letters but… that could (and did!) get confusing and such… not really sure why I am like so paranoid bout getting like idenitified but… I dunno, I may get lazy and like be back to just naming names. Not that I say anything bad.. that’s kept to myself and such but hmm… well anyways)

*cough* Oh yes. I am sick! Officially. I have aquired a cough now along with a stuffed and semi-runny nose x_x damnit. Thought that I would like be immune…. but obviously not I’m sick! I don’t think it helps that I am just like at the apartment all the time… hmm… coz I thought that I would like be totally not up for work yesterday but… seems change of like environment, I guess, changed that and I was actually quite fine and not that sick..

I need to buy an umbrella.. I want a Hello Kitty one… where can you get one in Auckland City?? =\ Cheaply.. heh.. I dunno. But yeah… time to visit the $3 Japan store.. It also didn’t help my sickness yesterday that I walked like in the rain without an umbrella~ oops.

Oooh yes and I also got myself a jobbb!! ^.^ I have also started to like plan my 20th birthday.. lol. I have made an event on facebook and yeah… seeing whose like keen to come I’m excited. I can’t wait.. I am thinking that probably this year I will have a like semi-big thing for it and then like next year, maybe just a small close friends one? Heh… it’s like opposite….  I dunno, we’ll see. 

Uni-wise. I am like screwed. I’m behind. I need to learn like key characters to be able to like read and like understand passages! T_T I am like dying atm! And I think I have a little pop quiz/test thing sometime next week in one of the Chinese papers and oh. my. goodness. -__- I think it’s just like how to use a dictionary, though… so, I might be like good.

So. Um. I have a completely new and blank harddisk.. 

I think that’s about it. Yeah… that’s it. In a nutshell. Hmmm for a while there I was going like hard with daily updates… and then something happened.. heh. I’ve also been quite the social butterfly during the weekend! I have been like out every weekend… drinking…. >_> Yeah… lol.. Ohh… >_<
